Hey Fam, the Christmas tree at Fox was set on fire and burned to the ground yesterday. Good news, we have a new one going up! I was on Fox earlier to discuss.
More About That Christmas Tree
The Christmas tree at Fox was burned to the ground by who appears to be a deranged homeless man. So, you would expect him to be in jail at this moment, right? Wrong.
This is from Fox News:
The man accused of torching a Christmas tree outside the New York City headquarters of Fox News was freed Wednesday night without bail — shortly after prosecutors reduced the number of charges against him from seven to three.
"I have been thinking about lighting the tree on fire all day long," Craig Tamanaha allegedly told Detective Matthew Demaio after he set ablaze the artificial tree decorated in red, white and blue, according to court papers.
Criminal justice reform in New York prohibits judges from setting bail in cases like this. Only in New York can you do $500,000 in damage and not spend the night in jail.
Los Angeles Just Fired 496 Unvaccinated School Workers
The Los Angeles school system has officially terminated almost 500 public employees for failing to meet vaccination requirements. But don’t worry, they care deeply about the employees they fired.
This is from the Washington Examiner:
"We care deeply about all of our employees," interim Superintendent Megan K. Reilly said in a statement. “Parting ways with individuals who choose not to be vaccinated is an extremely difficult, but necessary, decision to ensure the safety of all in our school communities. We wish everyone the best in their future endeavors and encourage everyone to get vaccinated."
During the midst of a national employment crisis, the LA school system now has an additional 496 jobs to fill. This directly impacts the schools ability to educate children. Sad.
Drafting Your Daughter
The Defense Authorization Bill previously contained a prevision that would require women to be eligible for the draft. It was removed earlier this week.
This is from Newsweek:
The $777.9 billion National Defense Authorization Act of 2022 initially included a provision to "modernize the Selective Service System" by requiring women ages 18 to 25 to sign up for a draft.
The bill said it wanted to do this to "support the mobilization needs of the Department of Defense by including women if the all-volunteer model is no longer able to recruit enough people during a time of national crisis," according to a summary of the bill from the House Armed Service Committee.
U.S. Government Praises Patagonia Despite Alleged Ties With Chinese Slave Labor
The State Department awarded Patagonia an award for cooperate excellence despite their alleged ties to Chinese slave labor. Secretary of State Antony Blinken bestowed an award for climate innovation for work Patagonia has done on environmental issues.
This is from The Washington Free Beacon:
A self-proclaimed "activist company," Patagonia has been accused of using cotton produced in Xinjiang, China, where the Chinese government has forced Muslim Uyghurs into labor and reeducation camps. Blinken has accused the communist regime of waging genocide against Uyghurs. The European Center for Constitutional Rights last week filed a criminal complaint urging Dutch authorities to investigate Patagonia, Nike, and other apparel companies that are "directly or indirectly complicit in the forced labor" of Uyghurs. Patagonia pledged last year to end its sourcing of fibers and manufacturing in Xinjiang after the Congressional-Executive Commission on China found the company was suspected of using slave labor in its supply chain.
The allegations against Patagonia come amid reports the State Department and White House have pressured lawmakers to soften language in a bill that would ban imports from Xinjiang because of forced labor concerns. The Washington Free Beacon reported the White House has lobbied Senate Democrats to block the bill, the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act, due to concerns it will undercut U.S. climate negotiations with China. Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman has also urged top Democratic senators to oppose the bill, the Washington Post reported.
As countries around the world begin to wake up to the abuses perpetrated by the Chinese government, this seems extremely ill-advised.
Happy Friday! Hope y’all have a good weekend.
